Microsoft is Giving Away a Tonne of Free Music You Might Actually Want

By Kate Knibbs on at

Like free things? Microsoft is giving away 100 albums until December 15th, in MP3 form. You just to download Microsoft's Music Deals app (on a Windows machine), and the albums are yours for the taking.

You have to make a Microsoft account to use the app if you don't already have one, but it's worth it. A lot of times, giveaway content tends to be kinda crappy, but this is not one of those times. There's a lot of music available people would be happy to pay for. You can get albums from Kanye West, The Who, The Rolling Stones, Frank Ocean, Kedrick Lamar, Florence and the Machine, and a tonne of other artists. (There's also a Justin Bieber album available so the quality control isn't perfect, but overall it's a stacked giveaway.)

Yes, the Pirate Bay is down and we really shouldn't be pirating music anyway. If you want to round out your digital music collection in a legal but cheap way, this is a good opportunity. [Microsoft via The Verge]
