Microsoft Now Accepts Bitcoin for Digital Purchases

Bitcoin adoption continues to grow apace and now Microsoft has joined the party. Residents of the US can now use the currency to buy apps, games, music and videos from the Windows, Windows Phone, Xbox Games, Xbox Music and Xbox Video stores.

Coindesk writes that Microsoft has partnered with Bitpay to put the new scheme in place. Microsoft states that the service is "currently limited" to the US, which would suggest a further roll out internationally in future.

There are some caveats: users can only add $100 at a time using bitcoin, refunds are not accepted, and the currency can only be used to purchase digital goods not physical ones. [Microsoft via Endgadget]
