Sony Threatens to Sue Twitter Over Users That Post "Stolen Information"

By Gary Cutlack on at

Sony may be about to go seriously legal over that trove of enjoyably embarrassing in-house emails that were hacked out of its systems, with reports suggesting it's demanding Twitter removes tweets that reference the stolen data.

More specifically, Sony's lawyers would like Twitter to block accounts that are really going for it with links to the material, suggesting it's really after those who are taking a little too much joy in the company's struggles. The letter itself uses the example of one specific Twitter user, with Sony's lawyer raging that it will: "...hold Twitter responsible for any damage or loss arising from such use or dissemination by Twitter."
