The Best 4K Clips to Show Off Your Swanky New 4K Telly

By Spencer Hart on at

4K is a great bragging tool, but sometimes your mates don't have two hours to watch Life of Pi in glorious UHD resolution.

Luckily Youtube is a great source of short 4K clips that are perfect to show off your new TV. We've collected eleven of the best videos the streaming service has to offer.

1.) Costa Rica in 4K

Ever wanted to go to the tropical paradise of Costa Rica? Well after watching this clip you probably won't, especially if you have a phobia of snakes.

Jacob and Katie Schwarz are two film-makers from the US that have captured the country in amazing detail.

2.) The Streets of Japan in 4K

If you're after a slightly faster-paced video you can head over to GoPro's video channel and watch Japanese petrol heads race around the streets of Tokyo.

GoPro release a different 4K video every week – they're a must watch if you've got a 4K telly.

3.) Star Wars Trailer

How amazing was the Star Wars trailer? Well in 4K, it's four times as amazing!

Do you really need another excuse to watch the trailer? The only thing that's missing is Jar Jar Binks.

4.) Norway Time-lapse

You'll probably want to calm down after the Star Wars trailer – that's where this beautiful time-lapse of Norway comes in.

There's something about the amazing location and relaxing music which makes this clip stand out. Be careful though – it'll almost certainly make you want to visit Norway.

5.) Tomorrowland

If you've always wanted to go to a music festival, but haven't wanted to brush up against sweaty drunk people, queue for hours to use disgusting toilets and pay exorbitant prices for alcohol, then this clip is for you!

Another official GoPro video, this time featuring the Tomorrowland Music festival in Belgium. Filmed all in 4K – it's just as good as being there.

6.) 4K Fireplace

If you blew all your money on a glossy new TV and didn't leave enough to pay the heating bills, it's OK, we understand, we've all been there.

Luckily you can pop this on the telly, wrap yourself in a duvet and hug the television – you'll be toasty in no time.

7.) Cute Puppy Race

Another chip from Jacob and Katie Schwarz, this time forgoing the creepy snakes and instead opting for the cutest puppies ever!

Watch them as they splash through muddy water, climb over each other and then have a big sleep at the end -- you're guaranteed a lower blood pressure by the end of it.

8.) Human Water Catapult

Girls in bikinis, guys doing back flips on wakeboards, the suns out and everyone's having fun -- just what you need to watch on a winter's day in dreary Britain.

Just try not to feel too jealous.

9.) Assassins Creed in Real Life

Ever wondered what Assassins Creed would look like in real life? Well wonder no longer because YouTube user devinsupertramp has recreated it in 4K for you.

Running over the rooftops of Paris looks amazing, but if you're not into Assassins Creed you should check out the rest of Devin's videos: he's also done other video games like Far Cry and Watch Dogs.

10.) Burj Khalifa Base Jump

The world record breaking jump by Vince Reffet and Fred Fugen looks absolutely stunning. The two madmen daredevils launched themselves from the pinnacle of the Burj Khalifa, the World's tallest building and filmed their fall in glorious 4K.

Sometimes I'm glad I can live vicariously through extreme YouTube videos, because there's no way I'd ever be caught doing this.

11.) Lights in 4K

Tom Lowe is the director of the first feature length 4K film TimeScapes, but when he isn't capturing breathtaking time-lapses of the night sky, he's filming music festivals.

In this short clip, Lowe shows us the Electric Daisy Carnival in Las Vegas, it looks great, but he seems more focused on the dancing females than the actual lights.
