Apps in Apple's UK App Store Are About to Get More Expensive

By Gerald Lynch on at

On the fence over whether or not to buy a pricier iOS app from Apple's App Store? You may want to just go ahead and splash the cash -- according to a report from Apple Insider, UK App Store prices are about to go up.

A note sent to Apple's iTunes Connect members from the App Store team states that:

[...]prices on the App Store will increase for all territories in the European Union as well as in Canada and Norway, decrease in Iceland, and change in Russia.

If your European geo-politics isn't up to scratch, the European Union includes us. The price hike is expected to roll out before the end of the week, and is in response to local VAT changes and foreign exchange rates. The Euro is expected to jump around a bit this month, and Russia's Ruble has been yo-yoing for ages, previously leading Apple to halt hardware sales in Putin's nation.

The rise comes as Apple is rumoured to be considering ditching flat-rate App Store pricing across the European Union, again favouring localised prices in response to national economic fluctuations. [Apple Insider]
