George Lucas Planned His Own New Star Wars Before Selling to Disney

Mr Star Wars has revealed he was already in the planning stages of making Episode VII himself, before deciding instead to sell out to Disney and apparently stop caring about the franchise entirely.

Lucas told USA Today that the thought of dedicating a decade of his life to the series was too much of an ask for a man of his years, saying that family time is more important to him nowadays -- and spending that $4bn he got from Disney must be pretty time consuming.

"It's better for me to get out at the beginning of a new thing and I can just remove myself,” Lucas said. "The time is more important to me than the money." [BBC]
