This year marks the 25th anniversary of crazy Swedes building an entire hotel out of ice. In celebration of decades of mostly redundant work, they've made an extra-special 25th anniversary edition, complete with ice chapel and ice movie cinema. And the bar, of course.
The hotel is constructed from 30,000 tonnes of 'snice', a snow-ice mixture that bonds better than regular old ice. There's 61 rooms, with 16 of those being special 'Art Suites' with local creatives brought in to spice things up. This year, decorations include a giant chess board, orang-utans, and a suite built to resemble the inner workings of a mechanical clock.
There's also a bar, chapel, and yes, a cinema, complete with domed ceilings. It's sad to think it will all come crashing down in spring. Again. [Dezeen]
