The Raid's Mega-Gory Martial Artists are in Star Wars: The Force Awakens

Ah, Darth Maul. You've really got to feel for Star Wars: Episode I's villain -- despite having only one line and about 10 minutes of screen time, his double-bladed lightsaber and martial arts moves made him easily the best thing about the first flick in the stodgy prequel trilogy. But it seems J. J. Abrams is doing all he can to erase him from our memories with Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens, upping the ante on everything the tattooed Sith lord brought to the table. First it was three-bladed lightsabers, and now a trio of brutal martial artists from the excellent The Raid films have joined this year's sequel.

According to Deadline (via Twitch) Iko Uwais, star of The Raid and The Raid 2, is heading to a galaxy far, far away, along with fellow Raid stars Yahan Ruhian and Cecep Arif Rahman. These guys are insane --

---- SPOILER ALERT -- Ruhain was so good in the first Raid movie that they brought him back for the second as a whole new character, despite being 'offed in the first.

-- and can pull off just about any hand-to-hand stunt you can think of. Uwais is looking towards becoming a breakthrough star of Hollywood movies after making a name for himself in Hong Kong action flicks, and a show-stopping fight scene in a Star Wars film isn't going to hurt that cause. Knock the Episode VII Excitement-o-meter up a notch now. [Deadline]
