With spin-off series Better Call Saul making us wonder how we ever lived without a fresh Breaking Bad fix in our lives, what better time than now to reacquaint yourself with the franchise's characters?
And, what better way than through the work of Ralph Steadman, the celebrated artist behind the iconic Hunter S. Thompson Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas cover? He's turned his hand to capturing Walter White, Jesse Pinkman and other fan favourites in his inimitable style. And, while the portraits had originally been intended as promotional work for the DVD boxset release of Breaking Bad, it's all now up on display at London's 71A Gallery.
"When I first floated the idea of approaching Ralph to work with us on this project, it was a bit of a pipe dream on my part,” Vince Gilligan, the show's creator, told Nerdist.
“I can barely describe the combination of disbelief and giddy joy I felt when I heard he was on board to do it! Ralph is the Walter White of artists: he’s a dark genius whose output is disturbing, yet habit-forming."
