Google Launching Global Blogger Porn Cleanse on March 23

By Gary Cutlack on at

The Blogger network of sites will soon be magically cleansed of all pornographic material, thanks to Google setting a deadline of the end of the month for owners to delete rude content -- or have their blogs automatically set to private mode.

Google is currently asking all site owners to remove porn images and videos ahead of the end of next month, when it says that any site its trawler bots suspect of hosting adult content will effectively be disabled -- by having their viewing status automatically set to private.

All is not lost, though. If you can convince Google it's actually art, you may be able to keep your precious gallery of favourites online, with the Blogger owner saying you'll be OK if there's a "...substantial public benefit, for example in artistic, educational, documentary, or scientific contexts" to your pics.

So we'll all be back to looking at line drawings of fannies, like in the 1980s. [Google]
