Providing you bought one of a specific set of computers within a certain time period, that is. Apple's had to deal with a year's worth of reports circulating relating to MacBook Pro computers sold prior to 2014, in which the machines' graphics chips randomly fail. Noting that this is a genuine problem, it's now launching a free repair program for those affected.
If you bought a 15-inch or 17-inch MacBook Pro between the start of 2011 and the end of 2013 (including Apple's Retina MacBooks) you're in luck -- if Apple can identify a problem, it'll fix your machine up, gratis. The repair program starts on February 20th in the US and Canada, rolling out worldwide a week after that. Apple believes only a small percentage should be affected, but if you think you're eligible for support it wouldn't be a bad idea to keep an eye on the next round of Genius bar appointments at your local store.
