In history's long list of legal loophole cock-ups, this one's going to rank pretty highly I'd say. For one day only, all you 24-hour party people living in Ireland can legally get your hands on ecstasy, ketamine and crystal meth.
That's because, as of Tuesday morning, Ireland's 1977 Misuse of Drugs Act has been found to be unconstitutional by the Irish Court of Appeal. Any drug prohibited by the act, as a result, is legalised.
The one-day reprieve is down to the fact that, no matter how quickly emergency legislation is put into place, the law "can only take effect on the day after it's signed." For ravers and dealers then, you've got until 12am Thursday to go mental. Responsibly, of course. [The Journal via Business Insider]
