Metallica is Releasing a 1982 Demo Tape... On Tape

When was the last time you actually stuck on a tape? Using an adaptor to plug your phone into the car stereo doesn't count. Well hardcore fans of '80s metal might want to dig an old cassette player out of the attic, because Metallica's going to be re-releasing some of its oldest music on the format next month.

18th April will be the day that No Life 'Til Leather, a previously-unreleased seven track demo tape from 1982, goes on sale as a limited edition cassette. If you can't get your hands on a tape player, or you feel that it's too hipster buying music on a redundant format, a remastered version will be released on CD and vinyl during the summer.

No Life 'Til Leather will apparently be the first of many remastered re-releases of the band's work, and Lars Ulrich told Rolling Stone that since everyone else has re-released their old work then it's about time Metallica did as well.

Well, you can't fault him for his honesty. [Rolling Stone via Engadget]
