Standalone HBO is Launching Exclusively on Apple Products

Great news for Apple-loving cord-cutters: When HBO launches its new standalone subscription service, HBO Now, Apple will be its exclusive partner, and you'll be able to watch using any Apple product.

HBO Now will cost $15 a month, with the first month free for early-bird subscribers. It'll be available at the beginning of April. This is confirmed only for the US at this time, with no word on whether we will get it in the UK.

You won't need an Apple TV to watch it. HBO Now will also work with iPhones, iPads, and even iPod Touch. And it looks like you'll be able to access it through hbonow.com once you buy the service using an Apple product. (So, for example, if you sign up on your iPhone but then you want to watch it on your laptop, that should work.)

This means people with Apple products will be able to watch Game of Thrones without an HBO subscription when the new season begins April 12.

This confirms earlier reports that Apple TV would be one of HBO's launch partners for the standalone product.
