By Casey Chan on at

The German Mark. Lithuanian Litas. Estonian Kroon. Irish Pound. Slovenian Tolar. Portuguese Escudo. Greek Drachma. Slovak Koruna. Maltese Lira. Finnish Markka. Dutch Guilder. Spanish Peseta. Luxembourgish Franc. Belgian Franc. Italian Lira. Cypriot Pound. Austrian Schilling. French Franc. Latvian Lats. All got replaced by the Euro.

N9VE made this animation as an ode to those beautiful coins, illustrating what they would look like. N9VE writes:

Beautiful Coins is one of our latest projects, a short video, a story within a story. We chose, a coin from each country that joined the Euro zone, in order to create a visual narrative that links all the nations together. Each coin identifies and describes a different political and historical moment of Europe, between its period of activity.
