New Zeiss Lenses for Sony A7 Cameras Have OLED Displays for Some Reason

By Mario Aguilar on at

The new Zeiss Batis lenses are the first the German manufacturer designed specially for Sony’s awesome full-frame compact cameras.

Their defining feature is an OLED display that replaces the old-school depth-of-field scale.

Which is... great? Finding a new way to communicate lens info is admirable because the old way is a little busted. But a display could just be another electronic component to fail, and an extra (very tiny) drain on your camera battery.

The lenses come in 25mm f/2.0 (wide angle) and 85mm f/1.8 (portrait) for $1300 and $1200. UK prices have not yet been announced. Start saving.
