Rock n’ rollers Muse have a hotly anticipated new record coming out soon. It’s called Drones. Topical! We’ll optimistically reserve judgement on the music. The band’s plan to fly actual drones around over the fans at concerts, however... um.
A US radio show has interviewed the band about the new record, which isn’t just called Drones: it’s also a CONCEPT RECORD about drones. And the concept will extend to the band’s stage show which will include “flying objects”. What could possibly go wrong?
According to the band’s frontman Matt Bellamy, originally quoted by Gigwise:
We always like to use the modern technology in our shows, the latest video screens or light shows, lasers, whatever is out there. Drones are obviously an interesting thing to try to bring into the live show so we’re going to try and do that. There’s going to be some difficulty with red tape of health and safety about flying things over, but the general thing idea is that as the tour starts that we’ll be using flying objects.
Yes I would hope you could not simply fly a piece of unregulated machinery over an audience without clearing a hurdle or two! It sounds dangerous! Let's hope that red tape is as red as red can be.
Drones drops June 5th. Sex, drones, and rock n’ roll.
