Gizmodo UK is Looking for a News Editor

By Gerald Lynch on at

The times they are a'changing here at Gizmodo UK. With Matt moving on to pastures new, the Good Ship Giz is down a crew member, meaning we're seeking a News Editor to join our team. And it could be you.

If you read Gizmodo UK, you’ll know it's not your usual tech website, so this role would be a perfect fit for someone seeking a new creative challenge in technology journalism.

As News Editor you’ll work alongside the Editor and a team of writers, planning, delegating and writing our daily news coverage. You’ll help to shape our news agenda, reporting on new gadget releases, scientific breakthroughs and DIY discoveries, sourcing eye-opening exclusive news and crafting meticulously researched, entertaining features. This is a hands-on role meaning you will be involved at every stage of the site's production. You'll need to be able to work comfortably under pressure, be at ease managing a small team, and be as articulate and creatively-driven as the rest of the Giz crew.

You can find the full job description, and how to apply, at our publisher's jobs portal. The closing date for applications is the 25th of May, so get cracking. Bear in mind that this isn't an entry-level role, so the ideal candidate will already have a good contacts book and solid experience having worked within technology journalism (or a closely-related field).

So, that also means (as some of you may have already guessed) that I'm moving on from my current role as News Editor. But not very far! I'll be stepping into the old shoes of Matt and Kat, taking on the Editor's role here at Gizmodo UK. There's plenty happening and exciting times lay ahead, and I'll make sure we have an AMA here on the site as soon as I can sort it out so that I can answer any questions you may have.

In the meantime though, get applying!
