Two New IMAX Cinema Screens to Open in the UK

The UK is to get two new IMAX screens, with the cinema company announcing it's installing the giant displays in the Vue Cheshire Oaks multiplex in Cheshire and Vue Leeds Kirkstall complex in West Yorkshire.

As of March 31st, 2015, the global tally for IMAX screens stands at 943 (made up of 820 commercial cinema installations, 18 commercial destinations and 105 institutions) in 63 countries. So you'll soon be able to make that 945 spots dotted around the globe in which your tiny little mind can be blown out by the gargantuan, curving screens. Though not mentioned in the latest statement from IMAX, there are also plans to bring a third screen to the Queensgate shopping centre in Peterborough, according to Peterborough Today.

Though the opening dates of the new screens have yet to be set, those living near the new installations will hope they open for business before the year is out, with the likes of Star Wars: The Force Awakens, Spectre, Jurassic World and Mad Max: Fury Road all taking advantage of the supersized format before 2016 rolls in.
