In what may be perceived as Samsung - or someone close to the tech giant - displaying largess towards headline writers around the globe, pictures of the new waterproof Samsung Galaxy S6 Active have been leaked. Do you see what they did there?
In all seriousness, however, the leaked photos do present a pretty handsome picture of Samsung's next S6; its casing looks positively robust and waterproof sealed. This design may entice customers who have been holding off making the jump from the current S5 Active to the new S6 models - the Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge, because neither are waterproof. Drop 'em in the bath and they're toast (or some soggy equivalent).
From the photos, we can also note that the S6's speaker has been moved from the front of the phone to the back. Aside from that details are a little sparse, although, a post on GMSArena - the site that originally received and posted the leaked image - stated that the source that sent it said that the S6 Active will be packing a large 3,500mAh battery, which offers significantly longer life than the 2,600mAh unit in the current S6. Tech Radar has also reported that this new S6 Active is also supposed to carry a microSD card slot.
So, all told, if the images are genuine, Samsung may be about to toss a rugged, waterproof phone boasting bigger battery life and more storage space into the market this year. A veritable whale of a phone, if you will. Now, if they could carry on helping us out with our headlines, that'd be grand... [GMSArena]
