Ewan McGregor and Danny Boyle Up for a Bit of Porno

Ewan McGregor has dropped a rather large hint that he may be about to team up with Danny Boyle once again, suggesting that a sequel to Trainspotting could be ready to start filming in 2016 – a year that marks the 20th anniversary of the launch of the film that made McGregor an international star.

McGregor was speaking at the Edinburgh Film Festival, where he was talking about some other film we're not particularly interested in as it sounds a bit weird and is about Jesus (The Last Days in the Desert).

Of a sequel to Trainspotting that would be built around author Irvine Welsh's book Porno that returned to the lives of the Edinburgh gang in later life, McGregor said: "I've met with Danny a few times recently and everything is great between us. We don't have a script yet, and nothing has been determined, but it would make sense for the sequel to be made in 2016, the 20th anniversary of the original."

Porno is set ten years after the events of Trainspotting, this time shifting the emphasis from the world of drugs to the world of porn, so is likely to make equally challenging viewing. Danny Boyle's previously said he's been waiting for the actors to age suitably so they can accurately portray older versions of themselves. [Herald Scotland]
