"Never knowingly undersold" is upmarket retailer John Lewis's motto, which should make its latest venture of interest to you lot. It's adding mobile phones to the portfolio of gadgets on sale on its shelves.
A cherry-picked selection of phones from LG, HTC, Motorola, Microsoft, Doro, Samsung and Sony are now on sale online to be followed with an instore date of early July for the flagship Oxford Street branch, each offered up unlocked and SIM-free. There's nothing particularly cheap about the range (a RRP-hovering £659.95 will get you a 64GB Samsung Galaxy S6 from John Lewis, for instance), but the store's standard two-year guarantee can't be sniffed at.
A partnership with Vodafone will soon see John Lewis offering contract deals tied to the network, too. Pop-up Vodafone concessions will appear in the Cheadle store in August, and the Oxford Street branch in the autumn. [John Lewis]
