Samsung Galaxy A8 Will be Sammy's Skinniest Smartphone

Tech specs claiming to show the final dimensions of this year's Samsung Galaxy A series update show it's been on a bit of a diet (or vomiting some components down the toilet in secret), with technical filings saying the A8 measures 158 x 76.77 x 5.94mm.

That 5.94mm bit is the most critical part of the spec sheet, breaking the 6mm barrier that rival smartphone makers like Huawei have been getting near to for a few years. Last year's Galaxy A7, the mid-range metallic option, came in at 6.3mm thick, so if that looked embarrassingly chunky inside your mustard colour skinny fit Topman chinos this should help reduce visible phone line shame.

Internally, the Galaxy A8 is currently rumoured to come with a  5.7-inch Super AMOLED screen running at 1080 x 1920 resolution, powered by an eight core 1.5GHz Snapdragon 615 processor. Two cameras running at 5MP and 16MP let you take varied and high quality photos of your computer keyboard, while, according to a filing with US authorities, there's 2GB of RAM inside and 16GB of storage space -- plus a big-ish 3050 mAh capacity battery to keep it running.

Android 5.1 or Lollipop is said to be the launch OS, so it'll be bang up to date for superior office kitchen OS version boasting. [Tenaa via Phone Arena]
