Sky has announced plans to roll out updated hardware on its low-cost Now TV box, which for the first time will mean that it can play full 1080p video.
According to Engadget the new box is based on the Roku 3 but runs Sky's custom software, which will also be getting a refresh. The new hardware is apparently five times faster, to support full 1080p HD playback. Helpfully too for anyone who prefers reliable wires to wireless signals, the new box also contains an ethernet port.
The update seems to be timed to coincide with the start of the new football season in August, as Sky is also changing its pricing options. In addition to daily and weekly Sky Sports passes, you'll apparently also be able to get a good, old-fashioned monthly subscription for £31.99/month. [Engadget]
