The second man on the Moon, Buzz Aldrin has got a new job... at the age of 85. Aldrin has been appointed as Senior Advisor to the Buzz Aldrin Space Institute at Florida's Institute of Technology, where he was also serve (in a non-teaching role) as a Professor of Aeronautics. Well... you can't deny he's well qualified.
Reuters reports that he says he hopes "to become much more involved in the operations and the guidance of our space program, mostly NASA, but strongly encouraging international involvement".
Fingers crossed he manages to use the position to help chivvy along the world's scientists to get a move on with space exploration. In recent years Aldrin has made "Get your ass to Mars" his catchphrase - wanting to establish a "long term settlement" on the red planet by 2040.
The university's campus is about 40 miles south of NASA's Kennedy Space Centre in Melbourne, Florida. Aldrin and his partner apparently relocated to live in the state from California earlier this year.
