Former champ boxer Chris Eubank has finally benefitted from his Alan Partridge immortalisation some 18 years after the event, with a travel firm seizing upon his social media confusion and getting the man to star in Youth Hostelling With Chris Eubank.
The joke, as it was, was that Eubank was mooted as a potential presenter of a TV show about youth hostels by an increasingly desperate Alan Partridge in the first series of I'm Alan Partridge in the late 1990s. Over subsequent years many Partridge fans took the chance to baffle the former world champion boxer by referencing the mythical show, with a recent explosion on social media allowing him to be baffled once again, this time in public.
Anyway. Long story short. A company calling itself Hosetlworld has presumably paid Eubank some money to star in a fake trailer for the show, and has put Youth Hostelling With Chris Eubank on YouTube. Although, in this day and age, it's more likely to be a Netflix or Dave exclusive hosted by Carl Froch and Jessica Ennis, but still.
Here's Chris looking way too smart to be allowed anywhere near a real youth hostel:
So there. One joke explained fully and in comprehensive literal detail, therefore losing any humour it may have once had. Good work, internet. [YouTube]
