Virtual reality is still a very solitary experience that has a long way to go, but now you can actually bring your dog in to enjoy the experience with you. In a manner of speaking.
Your dog isn't going to be strapped into a headset and left to run around in a virtual realm, but there is a device can can track your dog and mirror its actions in your virtual feed. You just have to accept the fact that it's going to appear as some sort of bizarre computer generated worm creature, rather than your adorable furry friend.
The whole thing has been created by developers StreetLevelZero for their game Hover Junkers, and lets you interact with your real life pets without actually having to take off your headset and ruin the immersion. They also pointed out that it stops you from accidentally treading on them while your vision is obscured.
You can watch the video below to see it in action, and while it's still a work in progress it does look very cool. Who knows, maybe in Fallout 5 you can have Dogmeat played by your actual dog?
