Jony Ive Soundboard Lets You Talk Design Nonsense, Too

By James O Malley on at

Jony Ive is the British design guru who is the reason Apple has such a good reputation for excellent design. He's the person who has spent ages ensuring that corners are sufficiently rounded, buttons are simple and so on. As designer of everything from the original iPod to the iPhone and the Macbook, he's pretty much unparalleled when it comes to industrial design.

But he does also talk some bollocks.

The Verge reports that to honour the sort of nonsense that Ive talks during short videos at Apple keynote events, software engineers Amy Hoy and Thomas Fuchs have created a Jony Ive soundboard, dubbed "JonyJive".

On the app you can build entire sentences out of Ive's words using words and phrases like "beautifully, unapologetically plastic", "soft, quilted leather" and "horological".

Helpfully the site even lets you share your newly constructed prose on social media, by providing a unique URL that you can tweet.

You can play with it yourself here. [The Verge]
