Lizard Squad Disrupts National Crime Agency Website

Hacking group Lizard Squad is playing a dangerous game and messing with the National Crime Agency - briefly taking the organisation's website down this morning.

The Guardian reports that following the attack, the group tweeted the following image to taunt the NCA:

The squad, which is believed to be non-reptillian and mostly humanoid in its membership has previously been linked to the distributed-denial-of-service (DDOS) attacks on Xbox Live and the Playstation Network which caused so much misery to gamers last Christmas. This morning's attack also appeared to use the same technology - making use of an app called Lizard Stresser to launch it (hence the "Stressed Out" above).

The attack comes four days after six teenagers were released on bail, suspected of being behind some of the group's activities. The arrests were coordinated amongst a number of police forces and took place in Huddersfield, Northampton, Manchester, Stockport, Cardiff and London.

The NCA told the Graun that the attack hasn't had any impact on its operational capabilities. In fact, this XKCD cartoon perfectly describes what the group has managed to achieve with the attack this morning:
