If you've sensed a disturbance in the Force today, don't worry, you can loosen your grip on your lightsaber. For once, that tremor brings with it good tidings – Star Wars: The Force Awakens has had its release date brought forward and (so far at least) it seems it's a UK-only treat!
The official Star Wars Facebook page let slip the release date change with a video pointing out that there was only 100 days to go until Star Wars: Episode VII's release.
A quick bit of mental maths would reveal that lines up with a December 17th screening date, not the December 18th release that's so far been widely publicised. While it was initially thought to have been a mistake, the Facebook page's admins have clarified that it is indeed a new, legitimate earlier release date for the galaxy-hopping franchise's return.
So, strike another day off the calendar then if you live in the UK, while hardcore worldwide Star Wars fans might want to check how much flights to our fair isles will cost on December 17th.
