Director Danny Boyle has said that a sequel to his iconic 90s film Trainspotting will be his next film.
According to Deadline Boyle made the announcement after the first ever public screening of Steve Jobs, which is out next month.
Trainspotting 2 will be once again written by John Hodge who wrote the original movie's script, and it appears that it will be (loosely?) based on Irvine Welsh's Porno, which was the sequel to the original Trainspotting novel. In the book, it sees Renton managing a nightclub in Amsterdam.
As if this isn't enough to excite fans of the original, it appears that all of the original cast are wanting to return in the sequel - even Ewan McGregor who Shortlist says Boyle fell out with shortly after making the original film when he was overlooked for casting in Boyle's next film, The Beach (Boyle gave into studio pressure and cast the more famous Leonardo Di Caprio).
It seems the trickiest thing to figure out at this early stage is fitting making the film into the schedules of Johnny Lee Miller (Sick Boy) and Robert Carlyle (Begbie) who both have long term TV commitments in the US on Elementary and Once Upon A Time respectively.
