Argos Takes On Amazon With One-Day Delivery Deal of Its Own

By Gerald Lynch on at

High-street stalwart and last-minute birthday present saviour Argos has announced that it’s to begin offering same-day delivery in the UK. It’s the first high-street retailer to do so, squaring up against Amazon and its Prime premium delivery service in the lucrative run up to Black Friday and Christmas sales.

Argos’s Fast Track same-day delivery service goes live from today and is available on 20,000 products for a flat fee of £3.95. That’s not quite as fast as Amazon’s one-hour Prime Now service, but nor does it require a yearly £70 subscription or a more expensive £6.99 per-order fee.

You’ll be able to pick between one of four daily delivery slots with the new Argos scheme, with 6pm the cut-off time for orders arriving at the final 10pm slot. Fast Track is available seven days a week all year round, with the exception being Christmas Day.

Argos has created 3,300 new delivery jobs in preparation for the roll out, working out of 170 larger stores and warehouse centres.
