Today marks the premiere of Spectre, the latest instalment in the James Bond series. Daniel Craig once more assumes the role of the smooth-talking, death-defying, crime-busting, womanising MI6 agent, but not all appears to be well with the character.
Craig himself has been critical of Bond over recent weeks, describing him as a misogynist and saying that nothing about him could help us in our day-to-day lives. The idea of a non-male, non-Caucasian, non-heterosexual version of Bond is also being floated increasingly often, with Spectre actor Andrew Scott the latest to address the topic.
However, former Bond actor Roger Moore, maintains that Bond is a heterosexual male, and that any alternative incarnations of him would be at odds with the character originally created by author Ian Fleming.
