A bunch of racist idiots want to boycott Star Wars: The Force Awakens, because they reckon it’s ‘anti-white’. The upcoming movie has dominated the headlines this week, following the release of a new trailer and poster, as well as cinema tickets.
I’ve found the hype a little overwhelming, but I've kept that to myself. Others decided to get #BoycottStarWarsVII trending on Twitter, and the hashtag isn’t exactly attracting the most measured of views and opinions. Instead, it’s served as a community for people to spew racist and anti-Semitic hate about some of the people involved in the movie.
British actor John Boyega who plays Finn, one of the movie's central characters, is attracting the most hate, though director JJ Abrams, who’s Jewish, hasn't come out unscathed either. It's a shame a handful of individuals have to kick up such a fuss, but truth be told, some of their tweets actually makes for rather entertaining reading.
