Thanks to Star Wars: The Force Awakens, there has quite literally "been an awakening." No, not that of the battle between light side and dark, Jedi and Sith. Instead, millions of voices suddenly cried out in terror as they realised they had to get up in the middle of the night to watch the final trailer before J. J. Abrams Star Wars sequel hits cinemas on December 17th (a day earlier than US cinemas).
Is it any good? I wouldn't know.
That's because, in an attempt to avoid spoilers and enjoy a pure, as-surprising-as-possible first viewing of the film, I've avoided all the trailers with the exception of the initial teaser trailer. It's been a hardcore year of looking through my fingers at Twitter and my favourite sci-fi blogs, stuffing my fingers in my ears as the trailers roll when taking a trip to the cinema. The will is strong with this one. Yoda would be proud.
So instead, here's a descriptive quote that I got my colleague Kate to pull in from our trusted buddies over at i09:
We finally get to learn a bit about Rey (Daisy Ridley). She’s hiding from something, and talking to Maz Kanata (Lupita Nyong’o). Finn (John Boyega) is also confused about his place in the galaxy and, together, they’re both confused about the old ways. The stories. Sith, Jedi, oh man. Han Solo (Harrison Ford) tells them they’re real and we get some amazing action with Kylo Ren, Poe Dameron, a shot of Leia. There’s so, so much great stuff here.
