When you fall out with your mates, it probably ends with you not answering your WhatsApp messages for a few days. But in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, any row inevitably ends up with everyone knocking seven shades of shit out of each other. Enter the first trailer for Captain America: Civil War, where the Marvel superheroes' fragile alliances begin to crumble.
Loosely based on the "Civil War" Marvel Comics event of 2006, the film sees a schism form between key Avengers Iron Man and Captain America, as ol' Cap defends his brainwashed reformed terrorist pal Bucky from SHIELD forces.
Plenty of familiar faces pop up, making this practically another Avengers film – you've got Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson), The Falcon (Anthony Mackie), War Machine (Don Cheadle), Ant-Man (Paul Rudd), Scarlet Witch (Elizabeth Olsen), The Vision (Paul Bettany),The Winter Soldier AKA Bucky (Sebastian Stan), and Hawkeye (Jeremy Renner), for starters, before you include Robert Downey Jr's Iron Man, or supporting cast members such as Hulk villain Thaddeus Ross, played by William Hurt.
And, of course, some new faces will appear too. The trailer gives us our first glimpse of Black Panther, played by Chadwick Boseman (getting his own spin-off film in 2018), while Civil War will also see Spider-Man return to Marvel's Cinematic Universe after being wrestled away from Sony. He doesn't get a spot in the trailer, but Britain's own Tom Holland takes on the Peter Parker role (likely a cameo) before getting his own outing in 2017.
Captain America: Civil War hits cinemas on May 6th 2016.
