As of next year, we’ll be able to fly directly from Heathrow to Inverness via British Airways. The company’s confirmed it will introduce daily flights from London to the wild, wonderful Highlands (and vice versa) on 3 May, making it quicker and easier for people to move between two of the UK’s most drastically different spots.
It’s hoped that the new link will provide a welcome boost for local Scottish tourism and businesses. I for one have always wanted to visit the Highlands, never have done, but might well do now. Though I'm also really lazy, so perhaps not.
“This is fantastic news for the Highlands, offering a new direct link with London and opening up a wide range of onward connections from Heathrow," said gushing Transport minister Derek Mackay, "This is particularly important for Scottish businesses looking for improved access to global markets. It’s also a major boost for local tourism, making it even easier for visitors to get a taste of the fantastic experiences on offer in the Highlands."
