The Force Awakens May be the Least Non-Violent Star Wars Yet

Star Wars: The Force Awakens is almost upon us, and it sounds like it’s going to be a nightmare-inducing gore-fest. From a sensitive child’s point of view, anyway.

The Motion Picture Association of America has slapped the movie with a PG-13 rating, as it contains scenes of ‘sci-fi action violence’ deemed inappropriate for pre-teen fans. Spectre and Jurassic World have the same age rating, and they didn't exactly have people cowering behind their popcorn. Younger viewers need to be accompanied by an adult in order to watch it in cinemas, which won't do their street cred much good.

Revenge of the Sith is the only other movie in the Star Wars series to have been rated PG-13, though it's worth noting that PG-13 didn't exist until 1984, after the release of the original Star Wars movies (all rated PG).
