Church Holds Star Wars-Themed Service to Get Young People Into God

A church in Berlin has jumped on the being about Star Wars bandwagon, asking fans to come dressed in their most daring Slave Leia costumes to celebrate Jesus and all that in a special themed service for people who can't think of anything else but the sci-fi franchise at the moment.

Attendee numbers at the Zionskirche -- or Zion Church -- were much higher than usual this last Sunday as a result of pandering to the nerd community, with around 500 people coming to sing songs at God in their Star Wars costumes while waving lightsabers around.

Pastor Lucas Ludewig said after the service: "We were very happy to see so many people in the church today. It's great that there are subjects that people are interested in. They trust us to make them part of the church service without making it too Christian or too Star Wars, but to find a good compromise."

Jesus is definitely not canon, although with the film getting universally decent reviews, some sort of small modern day miracle has already taken place for the fans. [Independent]
