The X-Men film reboots, particularly X-Men: Days of Future Past, have been an unmitigated success, weaving returning fan-favourite characters like Wolverine in with a time-shifted re-imagining of the key mutant team members. But something's been amiss – Charles "Professor X" Xavier has always had flowing locks fit for a L'oreal advert in the latest flicks. The biggest takeaway, then, from this action-packed brand new first trailer for sequel X-Men Apocalypse? Xavier's gone back to being bald:
The third (and possibly final, for the time being at least) run in the rebooted franchise, X-Men: Apocalypse puts the mutant heroes up against their strongest foe yet, the titular, god-like Apocalypse. Played by The Force Awakens' Oscar Isaac, he'll be battling against a new line-up of mutants that includes Sophie Turner (of Sansa Stark/Game of Thrones fame) as Jean Grey, Tye Sheridan as Cyclops and Kodi Smit-Mcphee as my personal favourite, Nightcrawler. A newly-shaven James McAvoy of course returns as goody-two-shoes leader Xavier, as do Michael Fassbender's sinister Magneto and Jennifer Lawrence's shapeshifting Mystique.
Keep an eye out for it in cinemas on 19th May 2016 in the UK.
