The Pretty Regent Street Christmas Decorations Are Attacking Londoners

By Aatif Sulleyman on at

People have been encapsulated by this year’s Regent Street Christmas decorations, waxing lyrical about the metal diamond- and sun-shaped objects hanging from the sky. Unfortunately, with Storm Eva on its way, it turns out that the pretty stuff isn’t quite as securely fixed as it should be.

Several shoppers yesterday said they were hit by falling lumps of metal, as wind speeds picked up in central London. It’s no laughing matter either -- the bits that are falling down are 20cm long, pointy and potentially dangerous. Police officers and the Crown Estate, which manages Regent Street, say they're working on reinforcing the decorations. As you can see from the images below, that's a fair bit of work to get through.
