These are the First PS2 Games Available on PS4

The PS2 was the best selling console of all time but, unless you've held on to your ageing machine or one of the earliest PS3 consoles compatible with its discs, the PlayStation 2 hasn't had the easiest of game libraries to dip back into this decade. But, as promised, Sony has finally started selling a first wave of PS2 games as remastered downloads for the PS4.

The handful of games released are classics, if not cult classics. But there are plenty of well-loved games that we'd have rather seen land first. Head over to the PSN store and you can now pick up:

  • Dark Cloud — £11.99
  • Grand Theft Auto III — £11.99
  • Grand Theft Auto: Vice City — £11.99
  • Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas — £11.99
  • Rogue Galaxy — £11.99
  • The Mark of Kri — £11.99
  • Twisted Metal: Black — £7.99
  • War of the Monsters — £7.99

Good to see all those seminal GTA games getting another roll out, while Rogue Galaxy is one of the most unfairly sidelined RPGs of the era (it's basically Star Wars, mixed with Final Fantasy - what's not to love about that?). However, has anyone cared about Twisted Metal at all in the last ten years? Or been gagging to get back into The Mark of Kri over, say, Timesplitters 2 or Zone of the Enders? Hmmm. Plus, £12 for games more than a decade old which you may have already bought once before feels pretty bloody steep. A welcome addition then, but more effort is needed. [PlayStation]
