BBC Denies That Top Gear's Chris Evans is Pissing Off Staff by Being Rubbish

By Aatif Sulleyman on at

The Beeb has hit back at reports claiming that new Top Gear presenter Chris Evans has been struggling to get to grips with presenting while driving. The Sun today reported that, according to an unnamed source, Evans required up to 10 takes to perfect a shot, and that his troubles were causing frustration amongst other members of staff.

However, a BBC spokesperson has tried to nip the speculation in the bud, saying, “This ‘story’ is complete nonsense and the truth is that Top Gear producers have been blown away by how quickly Chris has taken to talking to camera whilst driving at speed, a skill which has taken some presenters a long time to master.” Strong.

Top Gear post-Jeremy Clarkson kicks off on May the 8th. Evans’ co-hosts are yet to be announced, though we’re hoping one of them is Bruce Forsyth. [Standard]
