Belinda Carlisle Advertising Dodgy Viagra is Our Weird Hack of the Day

By Aatif Sulleyman on at

Google ‘Belinda Carlisle’ and you’ll see that all is not quite well with in the singer's world. Over the weekend, her official website was targeted by hackers seemingly intent on pumping her loyal fans full of Viagra, which would have them stammering Do You Feel Like I Feel? in ooh, something like 30-60 minutes. Shocking stuff.

Banners directing unsuspecting web surfers to a Canadian pharmacy have appeared across the site, and it looks like an old version of WordPress allowed the naughty people in. According to Malwarebytes, Carlisle’s site is built on WordPress version 3.8.12, rather than the latest 4.1.1. As the ads have that classic dodgy look about them, we hope that common sense put any potential Viagra buyers off clicking, though there's no word yet on how many people fell into the sneaky trap. Carlisle herself knows about the issue, and has assured fans it will be fixed shortly. [Malwarebytes]
