AnTuTu’s Weibo account has just published what the world believes to be the specs for the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S7, and it sounds disappointingly similar to its predecessor. According to the leak, the South Korean firm’s next flagship (well, one of them) will feature a 5.1-inch, 2,560 x 1,440 FLAT display, a 12-megapixel main camera, a 5-megapixel selfie sensor and 4GB of RAM.
The S6 had a 16-megapixel rear camera and 3GB of RAM, but was otherwise exactly the same. Don't get us wrong, it was and still is an excellent phone, but we'll be a little miffed if the S7 brings performance upgrades only. Perhaps all the good stuff lies in the battery department.
Interestingly, AnTuTu's leak also points to the inclusion of an Exynos 8890 processor, which suggests that Samsung will flog both Snapdragon- and Exynos-powered variants of the device. A previous leak showed off an S7 Edge running a Snapdragon 820 processor, which some gossipers reckon Samsung will have exclusive access to until April.
The S7 Edge and S7 are likely to pack identical specs, though the former will of course come at a premium due to its flashy dual-edge curved screen. Let’s hope Samsung’s figured out how to make it useful. [BGR]
