Robot Wars Will be Back on the BBC Later This Year

Too much excitement! Robot Wars will return to our screens later this year, a decade and a half after the last series aired. There’s no word yet on when it will make its grand return, but BBC 2 will televise six 60-minute episodes.

A special bullet-proof battle arena, which should keep members of the live audience nice and alive, is to be built in Glasgow ahead of the reboot. We’re hopeful that the show will stay true to its origins, in which amateur-built robotic fighting machines essentially ripped each other to bits. Mentorn Scotland has promised us more robots, battles and science -- just what the doctor ordered.

It’ll be intriguing to see how far amateur robotics has come over the years. Some of the robots we saw at the beginning of the noughties were terrifying enough. What’s in store later this year should be on a different level entirely. [Broadcast]
