Sorry Gerald, but your Boba Fett anecdote has nothing on this. Jonathan Nichols, an American lawyer, has revealed that he unwittingly acquired Sir Mix-A-Lot’s old mobile number in 2012, and has been receiving a suitably odd array of messages from fans and, ahem, wannabe acquaintances ever since.
After picking out an easy-to-remember Seattle number from a Verizon store three years ago, Nichols was flooded with bewildering stream of dirty pictures, fan mail and messages from luxury car dealerships. Initially highly-confused, Nichols would usually reply with a polite and honest, "I think you have the wrong guy. I'm a broke law student."
However, on 12 August that year, he cracked the mystery. That day, the phone was deluged with birthday wishes for a certain Anthony Ray. A quick Google search told him that Anthony Ray was the real name of 90s rapper and bottom-enthusiast Sir Mix-A-Lot, who happened to be born on 12 August.
After hearing about Nichols' story, Sir reponded perfectly. "Are you serious? That is hilarious. Poor fella," he said, before adding, “Tell him any really sexy pictures — little in the middle, and if she’s got much back — give them the new number.” [Seattle Times]
