15-Year-Old Glasgow Teen Charged Over Apparent FBI Hacks

By Gary Cutlack on at

A 15-year-old boy has been arrested in Glasgow and charged with offences under the Computer Misuse Act, with the suggestion that he's been doing bad things involving the internet and perhaps even computers and systems owned by the FBI.

Police Scotland officers are said to have interviewed the 15-year-old in the presence of FBI agents flown in for the arrest, with the Daily Record quoting an anonymous source that claims he tried to "hack into" the FBI's computers. Probably doing some history homework about the assassination of JFK and wanted to check a few things.

A police spokesperson confirmed the arrest part of it at least, saying: "Following a search of a property in the Glasgow area on Tuesday, February 16, a 15-year-old male was arrested in connection with alleged offences under the Computer Misuse Act 1990. He has since been released and is the subject of a report to the procurator fiscal." [Daily Record via BBC]
