Robot Hits Hole-in-One on Tiger Woods' Stomping Ground

That lumpy tank on wheelbarrow wheels there is being charitably referred to as a robot, one that stunned the golf world by managing to bag a hole-in-one on the TPC Scottsdale's 16th hole.

The one trick robot is called Eldrick. Eldrick hasn't been programmed to celebrate or show any form of emotion, although plenty of his carers on the day got very excited about the whole thing once he aced the shot. Or perhaps Eldrick is just being really cool about it, seeing as holes-in-one are what he was made to do.

Impressive follow through, a full rotation no less. The hole is usually a par-three for human professionals, with the semi-robotic golfing automaton Tiger Woods also hitting a hole-in-one there back in 2007. [YouTube via USA Today]
