Case Leak Says Apple's Next New Thing is Indeed a Smaller iPad Pro

By Gary Cutlack on at

Apple's next new thing was supposed to be an iPad Pro a few days ago, now there's new information out there that says... yes, it almost definitely is. A photo of a case with a Smart Connector makes it look like Apple's about to launch something akin to an iPad Pro Mini, with all the associated plug-in gadgetry that came with the hefty 2015 unit thanks to its Smart Connector.

The images come from internet secret-giver-awayer Steve Hemmerstoffer, who's uploaded a selection of photos of a case that's seemingly the wrong size to fit anything Apple currently has for sale. The image above is the one that set the internet aflame with desire this morning, apparently showing a 9.7-inch thing-case with the same holes as the enormous iPad Pro. So that's a smaller iPad Pro case.

Which can only mean Apple's about to launch a smaller iPad Pro at its March 21 event. So... SPOILERS. Sorry. [Twitter]
